HARTFORD -- The state medical examiner's office says a Trinity College freshman who died after falling ill in her dorm room suffered a pulmonary embolism.
This usually refers to a blockage of the main artery of the lung by a blood clot.
Authorities ruled out foul play Tuesday in the death of Adrianna Duffy, who died Monday morning at Hartford Hospital. She was 17 years old and a graduate of Concord Academy, a private boarding school in Concord, Mass.
Hartford emergency medical workers were called to Duffy's dorm early Monday morning after someone called 911 to report that she was unresponsive.
Counselors and chaplains were made available to anyone who wanted to talk.
The college newspaper, The Trinity Tripod, reported that Duffy's friends and classmates remembered her during a vigil Monday night by sharing stories and playing music. ©
