A great example of an impeccable location, 35 Sedgwick Ave. in Darien couldn't be better situated -- just a couple minutes from the center of town.

A simple property and a simple straightforward house, this Colonial's entrance opens with the living room to the right. It has a large picture window that offers a view out to the front yard, and there's a fireplace built into a stone hearth. The floors are plain pine.

The house gets more interesting to the left, with a wide-open dining room that also enjoys a view out the front. Entering through an open archway, a small set of double doors leads to the kitchen and a hall off to the left.

The kitchen is simple, yet large and full of cabinets. A view over the sink is of a back patio. The raised wood patio looks over a small yard edged by a collection of hemlocks that offer some privacy.

Abutting the kitchen is a living area with another fireplace in brick. The ceiling extends to the second floor, where a balcony space has room for seating or a work area. Two skylights add light from the east.

The hall off the kitchen passes a half bath before reaching a side door that opens from the driveway. There is also a laundry room with some good space and a separate door that leads out to the attached two-car garage.

The wide stairway from the front goes up to the landing with a view over the living room and family space. With the high ceiling, the area feels spacious.

Off this area is a large, box-like bedroom with a solitary window designed with a half circle at the top.

To the left down the hall is one bathroom, opposite which is another good-sized bedroom with a view of the backyard.

There's another potential bedroom, and then the hall leads into the master suite, which has a walk-in closet. The bathroom has a spa tub and separate shower, as well as double sinks and a skylight.

The ceiling of the master bedroom reaches 12 feet, making the room light and airy. Large windows provide views out on either side of the house.

The basement contains a potential in-law apartment, with a separate bedroom and living room, both of which feature sliding doors that lead to the backyard.
