The Stamford Community Leadership Team of the Pitney Bowes Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to Person-to-Person in support of the agency's Campership Program.
Camperships are awarded to Stamford elementary school children who receive free or reduced-price meals during the school year. At an average cost of less than $700 to send a child to camp for the summer, 14 children are going to area camps because of the foundation's grant.
According to Danielle Jean-Guillaume Sittol, who manages the P2P program, summer camp is more than just fun and games. "It offers peace of mind to parents because their children are safe in an environment rich with stimulating activities and new experiences."
