Peter Lowman, 59, of 40 Allwood Road, Darien, was arrested Aug. 8 on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
A Darien officer on patrol saw Lowman's car go through a red light on Boston Post Road at Tokeneke Road, according to the report. Police said the officer stopped the gray 2013 Chevrolet Impala near Center Street and upon approaching the driver, he detected an odor of alcohol coming from Lowman's breath.
The operator said he may smell like alcohol because he drank the night before, according to police.
Lowman was administered field sobriety tests, which he failed, and when at the police headquarters, he agreed to taking two breath tests as well, police said. He blood alcohol counts were .2358 and .2320, both almost three times the legal .08 limit, according to the report.
While doing an inventory of Lowman's vehicle, the officer found five empty Corona beer bottles. Police said the man has a history of DWI charges in Connecticut and Florida.
He was released on $200 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 18.
