Three students at Pear Tree Point School, Gwen Thompson and Eloise and Marguerite Foster, had the unique opportunity to "rule the school" as Headmistress of the Day.

This was thanks to their parents' successful bids at the Pear Tree Point School Foundation dinner dance and auction. All funds raised at the dinner support and provide financial aid for deserving students.

On their special days, the headmistresses greeted students at arrivals; handed out business cards; led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance; helped in Mandarin, reading and art classes; took photos for the school's website; hosted a luncheon

for four guests in "their" office and

announced car call.

As an added perk, the student heads of school chose free dress days, on which the traditional dress code was replaced by a themed day.

Fifth-grader Gwen Thompson designated Oct. 18 as "neon" free dress day, while the Foster sisters, Eloise, grade four, and Marguerite, grade two, proclaimed Nov. 8 as a "dress as your favorite book or movie character ... going to bed" day.

Although each student head of school cited different parts of their tenure as their "favorite," they all agreed it was "awesome," "fun" and "spectacular" to lead the school.
