Pedestrian struck by vehicle

Police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian accident on Sept. 27 at 9:48 a.m. at the intersection of Post Road and Mansfield Avenue. According to police the 2010 Jeep Wrangler was turning left from Mansfield Avenue onto Post Road intending to travel eastbound on the Post Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing the Post Road crosswalk.

Police said the operator of the Jeep indicated that she never saw the pedestrian until after the collision occurred. The female pedestrian, 66, was transported to Stamford Hospital by Post 53 with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The accident is being investigated by the department's specialized Accident Investigation Unit.
