Pianist Alex Beyer, of Fairfield, will perform on behalf of Kids Empowered by Your Support at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Talmadge Hill Community Church, 870 Hollow Tree Ridge Road, Darien.
KEYS' mission, according to its website, www.keysmusic.org, is to bring instrument lessons and group music instruction to under-served children in Bridgeport. KEYS' professional music instructors work in partnership with school administrators and teachers who excuse students from class once each week for a private lesson on the piano, cello, viola, alto sax, flute, trumpet, clarinet, classical guitar or violin.
Beyer has been a guest soloist with the Milwaukee, Charlotte, Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury and Bridgeport Symphony orchestras. He has received first-prize awards in the Renee Fischer Competition and Music Teachers National Association's state and regional competitions; was a finalist in the 2012 Gina Bachauer International Competition; was a 2011 MTNA national finalist and prize winner in the 2010 PianoArts Competition; was a 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts; and made his Jordan Hall debut in 2014 as a winner of the New England Conservatory Piano Honors Competition.
Rob Silvan, executive director of KEYS, said Beyer has performed several times on behalf of KEYS and has worked with KEYS students.
"We are grateful he is sharing another evening with us," Silvan said.
The requested donation in advance or at the door is $25 per person. KEYS volunteers are free. The proceeds will support KEYS music programs. For reservations, visit keysmusic.org.
