On Oct. 11, police arrested George Mercier, 18, of Darien, for possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor, police said.

Officers observed Mercier operating a 1994 Cutlass with a defective turn signal around 1:15 p.m., police said.

The officer recognized the vehicle because he had stopped it previously and given the operator a verbal warning for the turn signal, police said.

A search of the vehicle found a tobacco pouch with about 1 gram of marijuana and four cans of Coors Light beer, police said.

Mercier posted a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21.
