An iPhone, valued at $200, was reported stolen from a female Darien High School student's backpack on Wednesday, Feb. 3. According to police, the girl last saw the phone in her bag while it was in the locker room just before her gym class, which ran between 12:18 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. She noticed the phone was missing while on the bus home at 2:15 p.m, according to police. No calls have been placed from the phone since it was last seen, police said.

Margaret Burke, 54, of Norwalk, was arrested for allegedly leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle at 4:43 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. A female shopper at Trader Joe's, located at 431 Post Road, saw a 9-year-old girl sitting inside a 2001 Subaru Outback parked in the grocery store's side parking lot on Saturday evening; according to police, the woman found the girl still inside the vehicle when she returned to her car about 20 to 25 minutes later.
The woman notified a Trader Joe's employee, who asked the girl if she was OK. According to police, the girl opened the door and told the employee she was "cold and scared." The employee then called the police, who arrived about five minutes later. The officer found the car's door unlocked, with the engine off and the keys in plain view; it was between 25 degrees and 30 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the incident, police said. Burke was released on a promise to appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

David Morales, 19, of Norwalk, was arrested on a warrant and charged with sixth-degree larceny on Sunday, Feb. 7. The charges stem from a complaint filed with the police department on Nov. 1, 2009. According to police, Morales's boss at Roxy Video, located at 340 Heights Road, discovered a $200 cash shortage in the register on Oct. 31, following a shift during which Morales was the sole person responsible for the drawer. The October incident was the eleventh time this had occurred at the video rental store while Morales was working, police said. The total amount of money missing from registers comes to $417.16, according to police. No further shortages occurred after Morales was terminated on Nov. 1, police said.

Darien Police arrested two men in a second sting operation at a residence in Darien involving a chimney cleaning service on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Christopher Cullen, 30, of 556 17th St., West Babylon, N.Y., and Thomas Musial, 20, of 6 Nims Ave., West Babylon, N.Y., were each charged with second-degree larceny of a victim over 60, failure to provide notice of cancellation, failure to provide duplicate notice of cancellation, failure to orally notify notice of cancellation, impersonating a registered home improvement contractor, offering home improvement without registration, failure to possess/display Connecticut sales tax permit, failure to file trade name certificate and performing occupational trade work without a license.
Cullen was held on a $25,000 bond, and Musial was held on a $125,000 bond; both men appeared in court on Thursday, Feb. 4.
