Ox Ridge Hunt Club and AT&T invite residents to attend a public informational meeting from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road, to learn more their collaboration on a new wireless communications facility proposed for club property.

The new communications facility would be designed as a farm silo. Both organizations say the project would be consistent with the historic agricultural use and current equestrian barns, stables and other buildings on the property.

At the meeting, AT&T will present information on the need for a new wireless facility in that area of Darien, alternatives the company has reviewed and considered and the silo's overall design features including visibility in the community.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

"Our objective is to provide reliable wireless service for our customers while minimizing any adverse aesthetic impacts of the needed new facility," Harry Carey, of External Affairs AT&T Connecticut, said. "We believe the farm silo design allows us to do just that -- neighbors and visitors to the club will simply not be able to identify this structure as a communications tower."

Flavia Callari, member of the Ox Ridge Hunt Club Board of Stewards, said, "The Ox Ridge Hunt Club is committed to continuing to maintain open space on its property and be a good neighbor and believes the farm silo design will be consistent with the character of our club and provide improved wireless service to our members and in the surrounding community."
