DARIEN — Two pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses, a Kate Spade purse and loose change were among the items taken when three unlocked cars were entered — all within a mile of each other.
The first report came in on June 3 around 7:30 a.m. A West Avenue resident reported his 2013 Range Rover had been entered while left unlocked overnight. Two pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses, each costing around $285, were taken from the glove compartment.
Around 8 a.m., a woman on Charles Street reported her boyfriend noticed her 2011 Lexus had also been entered while left unlocked in the driveway overnight. All the car doors and the trunk were left open. The woman found a $80 cream “Shumway Capital” canvas tote bag with blue straps was missing from the rear passenger seat. In the bag was a $100 Kate Spade purse, $150 Tory Burch reading glasses, a set of house keys, business documents and bills.
Officers searched the neighborhood, but found nothing.
The next day around 2 p.m., a woman on Miles Road reported her change purse had been taken from her car sometime between then and May 27. The woman said she didn’t notice her change purse was gone until she heard about the other recent car break-ins. Her 2016 Acura had been left unlocked.
The purse was made of off-white plastic and had a black zipper. It contained about $10 in change.
Police searched the neighborhood again, but found nothing. All three incidents are still being investigated.
