DARIEN — A woman’s purse was stolen from a parking lot on Center Street after she accidentally left it there.

Around 4 p.m. on Oct. 15, police were dispatched to 22 Center St. A 37-year-old Darien woman said she and her husband were having lunch at a local establishment and parked at the lot. At 2 p.m., the pair returned to the the parking lot and the woman set her purse down next to the vehicle and forgot it as they left the lot.

Several hours later, the woman noticed the purse was gone. At 4 p.m., she returned to the lot, but the purse was not there.

The purse was a black and white Kate Spade bag valued at about $150. In it, the woman had a Tory Burch wallet worth $250, her phone and a fleece. The wallet contained $300 in cash, three credit cards and one debit card.

Police canvassed the area with negative results. They are continuing to investigate the incident.
