The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is launching its new club, Inspire, on Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Kick-Off Happy Hour at the Goose Restaurant, 972 Post Road, Darien.

The Inspire Club was created to reconnect old friends and formerly active members of the YWCA, and to welcome new members who would like to participate in its social and recreational outings.

Many local residents joined the YWCA when first moving to the area and participated in its Newcomers Club, Gourmet Groups and playgroups, moving on to serve on committees for fundraisers, house tours and galas.

The Inspire Club provides the opportunity for those friends, who may now find themselves empty-nesters, newly retired, back to work, single or just ready to try something new, to socialize again in new and fun ways on a regular basis.

"For many of us, the YW was an important part of our lives when we moved to town," Inspire Club committee member Deirdre McGovern said. "We thought it would be great to have opportunities where everyone could renew those friendships."

The Inspire event at the Goose includes complimentary appetizers and a $5 coupon for the first drink. Membership is not required to attend the kick-off event, but advance registration is required at ywcadariennorwalk.org by Monday, June 23. YWCA membership is required to participate in subsequent events of the club.

Upcoming events for the Inspire Club will include a tour of Greenwich Village, a local spa day, a discussion of "Refeathering the Empty Nest" and a bike tour. Other activities will include lectures, destination day trips, museum tours and restaurant nights out.
