Christine Benz, director of personal finance at Morningstar, will discuss "Strategies for Pursuing Your Retirement Paycheck" at a dinner meeting of the Connecticut chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors Wednesday, May 21, at the Waters Edge at Giovanni's II in Darien.
Registration begins at 6 p.m., with the talk at 7 and dinner at 8.
Benz will discuss how the retirement landscape has changed over the last 30 years and the challenges that retirees now face, including the disappearing traditional pension and low interest rates. She will suggest ways to deal with these challenges by using the "bucket" approach to retirement portfolio planning.
Benz is the author of "30-Minute Money Solutions: A Step-by-Step Guide to Managing Your Finances." In addition, she is a co-author of "The Morningstar Guide to Mutual Funds: 5-Star Strategies for Success." Before assuming her current role, Benz served as Morningstar's director of mutual fund analysis and edited Morningstar FundInvestor, a monthly newsletter.
She is frequently quoted in the financial media and has made many guest appearances on CNN, CNBC and PBS.
The cost is $50 in advance and $55 at the door. The program alone is $25. For information, call 203-245-1211.
