A Ridgefield man turned himself in to Darien Police Aug. 4 after learning of a warrant for his arrest.
According to the report, Michael Hansum, 57, was charged with fifth-degree larceny stemming from a July 15 incident. Police said a witness observed a man standing on some items and leaning over a fence at Land Rover Darien, Post Road, at about 4 p.m., after the business was closed.
The witness obtained a vehicle description and license plate of the vehicle the subject was driving. According to the report, the witness saw the man remove an 8-foot box, lifting it over the fence and placing it in his vehicle. Police later determined that the box contained vehicle roof rails of unknown value. A computer check of the vehicle registration revealed that it was registered to Hansum.
Police said when they contacted Hansu, he admitted to the theft and returned the stolen items. He was released on a written promise to appear in court Aug. 14.
