An academic program designed to help middle-school students get ready for the new school year is planned at Middlesex Middle School next month by a private agency.

The group, S4-Successful Study Skills 4 Students, will offer the five-session workshop Aug. 13-17, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

The interactive workshop is designed to demonstrate how to integrate, weave and apply student's curriculum and course material with taught methodologies and systems, according to an S4 press release.

"We are pleased to once again offer the S4 workshops at Middlesex this fall so that area middle school students can take advantage of these important tools," Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4, said in the release. "We know that implementing even a single new skill can make a big difference in a student's love of learning."

The S4 program, according to the group, is founded on educational research and evidenced-based studies, and taught by accredited teachers.

Class sizes are limited to 15 students, the group said. There are also take-home materials that complement and outline the workshop materials. The fee for the five-workshop session is $395. To register, go to: http://tinyurl.com/Summer-2012-Middlesex.
