Senior center activities scheduled

The following programs are scheduled at the Darien Senior Activities Center, now located at the Mather Center, 2, Renshaw Road. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information, call 203-656-7490.

The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association will hosting an informative lunch to discuss flu shots at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4. The presentation will be followed by a complimentary lunch at noon. To sign up, call 203-656-7489.

Military historian Art Gottlieb will discuss the U.S.S. Intrepid at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 5. Launched in Norfolk in 1943, the fleet carrier saw extensive World War II service in the Pacific. He will be doing both an oral history and a Power Point presentation filled with historical pictures.

The Alumni Swing Band will perform at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6. The band's repertoire includes Big Band-era swing and jazz as well as more contemporary selections. Lunch, at a cost of $4, will be served at noon. For lunch reservations, call 203-656-7490.
