Senior center opening Monday

The Darien Senior Activities Center opens at 9 a.m. Monday, July 21, at the new Mather Community Center, 2 Renshaw Road.

Among the upcoming activities are:

Alumni Swing Band, 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 21: The repertoire includes classic Big Band, swing and jazz as well as more contemporary selections. Lunch, at a cost of $4, will be served at noon. For reservations, call 203-656-7490.

Author John Cilio, 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 22: Cilio will discuss his book, "Women's Work in World War II." In his book, Cilio, an aviation historian, combines photographs and the stories of the women who stepped into jobs with minimal training and no experience in order to keep America running.

Stamford Hospital Lunch and Learn, 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 29: Maria Pribis, O.D., will discuss senior eye health, including cataracts, glaucoma and corneal disease. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon. For reservations, call 203-656-7490.
