Seven students perform at String Festival

Seven students were chosen to represent Darien at the Fairfield County String Teachers Association's 40th annual String Festival March 14 and 15.

Sara Baldwin, Kara O'Rourke, Emily Grandon, John Phipps, Elizabeth Garijo-Garde, Kai Zhou and Tal Lindsey were chosen based on teacher recommendations and competitive auditions.

The festival featured outstanding string students in grades six to nine from throughout Fairfield County.

The conductors were Emmett Drake, from the Hartt School of Music; Harvey Felder, from the Tacoma Symphony; and Joseph Brennan, of Haverford.

The event took place at Western Connecticut State University. Students and educators from 17 Fairfield County school districts were represented at the festival.
