DARIEN — Snow and speed caused a car accident with minor injuries on Mansfield Avenue near Fox Hill Lane Jan. 31.
Around 11:05 a.m., a 46-year-old Darien woman was going northbound in a 2015 Acura MDX on Mansfield Avenue when the vehicle in front of her stopped. The Darien woman attempted to stop her car, but the she skid and veered into the southbound lane where she struck the front end of a 2016 Ford Fusion.
The driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old Norwalk man, told police he saw the Acura skidding into his lane and attempted to avoid being hit by swerving right. When the Acura struck his car, however, he went off the road and his car hit a utility pole.
Both drivers complained of minor soreness after the crash. They were examined by Post 53 but not transported to the hospital. The driver of the Acura MDX was cited for traveling too fast for conditions, as it had just started snowing and police said the roadway was slippery.
