David Woods, 26, of 270 Foxon Blvd., New Haven, was arrested July 24 on a charge of soliciting without a permit, Darien police said.
Police received numerous calls about a man attempting to sell magazines door-to-door without a solicitor's permit, which is required, police said.
When police located Woods, he said he was seeking donations for a charity, according to the report. He told police he worked for Urban Development Solutions and he never went to the Darien Police Department to apply for a permit, the report stated.
He was held in lieu of $199 bond and was scheduled to appear in court July 25.
