The Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road, is offering a Spanish language class beginning Thursday, Jan. 9.

Intermediate Beginning Spanish is a fast-paced class focused on speaking skills and designed to get students talking. Sessions rotate through chapters of the assigned textbook, "Spanish Conversation Demystified by Jenny Petrow."

Students should have some knowledge of Spanish grammar and bring the textbook to the first class. Practicing a few hours a week will also help participants get the most from the class.

Instructor Antonia Basu, a native Spanish speaker born in Argentina, and a Darien resident for the past 13 years, leads the sessions.

Classes will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursdays from Jan. 9 to Feb. 13.

The cost is $155 for members and $185 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is noon Tuesday, Jan. 7. To register or for more information, visit dariendca.org, email info@dariendca.org or call 203-655-9050.
