The fifth annual Darien Community Spelling Bee takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Darien Town Hall auditorium.

The Darien Spelling Bee is a communitywide event to raise money for The Depot, a center for teenagers.

The bee is organized into teams, each with three members. Team members consult on a response. Teams compete in rounds, with the winning team of each round participating in the championship round. Trophies will be presented to the winning team and a plaque acknowledging its achievement will hang in The Depot.

To participate, each team must remit a tax-deductible entry fee of $150.

Admission is $5.
