"Celebrating Spring: The Florals of Judith Carbine" is the featured exhibition at the Geary Gallery, 576 Boston Post Road, Darien, through March.

The exhibition showcases the floral and landscape plein air oil paintings of Carbine, a native of Vermont. For more than 20 years, Carbine has captured the New England landscape and the beauty of spring and summer with her plein air oil paintings. Some of her subjects include the Cape Cod shoreline, gardens of Connecticut and the fields of Vermont.

"Painting outdoors is an exciting and refreshing visual adventure," Carbine said. "The challenge is to capture the splendor of nature with every painting.

"New England has some of the most magnificent landscapes in the country, and it's an endless source of inspiration for me."

A self-taught artist, Carbine was influenced by French and American Impressionism, and using both paint and surface to convey her visual experience of the subject.

"Judith is one of the area's most celebrated artists and many of her previous exhibits have completely sold out," Tom Geary, owner of the Geary Gallery, said. "She continues to receive widespread acclaim for beautifully blended colors and a notable talent for capturing the nuances of New England. This exhibit is a collection of Judith's finest works to date, and we're happy to be bringing it to our Fairfield County community."

Carbine has received best-in-show awards from the Chester Art Guild and the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council. Her artwork has been profiled in American Artist magazine, and has been published in the books "The Zen of Creative Painting" and "Strengthen Your Paintings with Dynamic Composition."

The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information, call 203-655-6633 or visit gearygallery.com.
