DARIEN — A 38-year-old Stamford man was charged with drunk driving while allegedly on his way home from a tavern in Stamford.
On April 8 around 2 a.m., a patrol officer saw a gray SUV going northbound on Leroy Avenue. The officer pulled over the 2005 Toyota RAV4 near McLaren Road after seeing it cross the double yellow line three times.
The officer smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, Alex Morales-Mejia of Carroll Street. Morales-Mejia, who failed a field sobriety test, was placed under arrest for driving drunk and failing to drive right.
Morales-Mejia declined the opportunity to contact an attorney and submitted to a breath test. His first blood sample was taken at 2:44 a.m. and showed a blood alcohol content of .104. His second breath test was taken at 3:06 a.m. and showed a BAC of .078.
Morales-Mejia posted a $50 bond. He will appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 18.
