Ravi Anand, 42, of Stamford, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive right March 17, police said.

An officer observed Anand's vehicle, a 2004 BMW X5, stopped in the middle of Old King's Highway South, but when he approached, the vehicle drove off, police said. According to the report, Anand crossed the double yellow line several times before nearly striking a utility pole on the right shoulder of the road. He was eventually stopped on the Post Road near entrance 11 to Interstate 95 northbound, police said. Anand failed his field sobriety test.

He posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 30.
