DARIEN — A 52-year-old Stamford woman was charged after allegedly spitting on another passenger on a local bus.
On June 28 around 11:30 a.m., the victim had been sitting on the bus when Enide Gabriel, of Main Street in Stamford, walked by and spit on her shirt and face. The victim said she didn’t know the Stamford woman and hadn’t interacted with her up until that point. The victim had dried spit on her shirt and the driver pulled over to call police about the incident.
Gabriel told officers she’d been attacked in Stamford the night before by three men and a woman. She said the attack wasn’t physical and she hadn’t reported it to police. When she boarded the bus, she thought the victim had been the woman involved with the attack. She said the victim was also taking photos of her on her phone. She admitted she then spit on the victim who said when questioned again that she hadn’t met Gabriel before.
The Stamford woman was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court on July 10.
