DARIEN — Locals gathered at the Darien Library Tuesday, Jan. 24 for a public forum to discuss the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its impact.

State Rep. Terrie Wood (R-141) hosted the forum in light of President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the potential changes his administration is making to health care. Attorney Victoria Veltri, chief health policy adviser to Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, and Maura Carley, founder and president of patient advocacy center Healthcare Navigation in Darien, discussed the history of the ACA, what is going on currently and what the future may look like.

“The goal of the ACA was to bring something to the market that was doable for everybody,” Carley said.

Both women, who serve on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange, took audience questions as well.
