DARIEN — A stolen 2007 Chevy Tahoe made a long trip from South Carolina to the Noroton Avenue Shell Gas Station. Police found the vehicle March 6 just after 8:30 a.m.

The tan Chevy Tahoe, which had temporary New Jersey registration, had been parked at the gas station for a day, according to police, and was parked sometime between 1 p.m. March 4 and 5 a.m. March 5.

The vehicle was reported stolen on Jan. 1 in the Bronx, at which time the vehicle had South Carolina plates and belonged to a woman living in Ridgeland, S.C, according to police.

Officers found the vehicle with damage to the motor, dripping significant amounts of oil and with a broken rear window taped over with clear plastic.

The New York Police Department and the owner of the vehicle were notified. Efforts to obtain follow-up video surveillance of the area is ongoing, according to police.
