The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. No information about the deceased was released, other than the person's age.
Police sent out a two-sentence press release saying a "17-year-old driver was involved in a one-car MVA (motor vehicle accident). The accident resulted in the death of her 29-year-old passenger."
In addition to the manslaughter charge, the teen is charged with driving under the influence, traveling too fast for conditions, operating without a license, failing to drive right and failing to wear a seat belt.
The statement says the teen's bail was set at $100,000. She is due in court June 30. Police did not release her name, classifying her as a youthful offender.
Ridgefield police declined to say anything else about the incident, saying any information had to come through the department's public information officer, who does not return to work until Monday morning.
A message seeking comment was left on the public information officer's cell phone.
