Teen charged with DUI

Darien Police charged a 17-year-old girl Aug. 5 with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.

According to the report, the teen was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty on Three Wells Lane at approximately 11:30 p.m. and had driven off the roadway subsequently striking a tree and causing both airbags to deploy.

Police were called to the scene and immediately detected an odor of alcohol emanating from her person. There were no reported injuries.

The juvenile failed her field sobriety tests and posted a $200 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
