Ten runners from Ridgefield and Danbury place nationally

Five members of the Ridgefield High girls track team placed in the National Scholastic Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Armory in New York City.

The 4 x 800 relay team - comprised of Rebecca Chain, Elly Teitsworth, Leah Rosenfeld and Caitlin Helgesen - finished 12th in 9 minutes, 38.2 seconds. Meanwhile, Emily Heaslip finished 29th in the 400 meter race in 59.70 seconds, setting a Ridgefield High record.

For the Danbury High boys track team, the boys 4 x 400 meter relay team finished seventh overall in 3:21.32, setting a school record, an FCIAC record and a state record. Team members are Antonio Harrison, Elonzo Young, Troy Rochester and Leon Breece.

For the Danbury High girls track team, Liz Calle finished the 800-meter race in 2:21.15 and was named to the Academic All-America Team.
