The Running Doctor: A message for Fairfield Little League

This season we have some baseball teams that are making their mark all over Fairfield County.
The Fairfield American Little League has proven to be an outstanding group of young men who, with their coaches, have advanced to Williamsport.
As a Little League player and later a coach [native of Fairfield] who was involved in The All-Star games for the New England regional games, I am well aware of all the effort and hard teamwork involved. In the past, we used mental rehearsal, setting up the game from a psychological standpoint and moving different players to different positions.
This technique can be utilized in all sports and with all levels of players. A player can simply imagine himself succeeding in a stressful situation to prevent himself from choking-up. Also, a player can mentally rehearse the game in his mind and visualize himself do everything properly and successfully. This type of exercise can assist the player in becoming aware of physical tension, clearing his mind of negative thoughts and give him a positive attitude about his performance.
To the Fairfield American team and coaches, we are proud of their outstanding achievement in the world of Little League baseball.
