Parts were reported stolen from two parked cars on separate occasions in Darien last week, according to Police Capt. Fred Komm.
A tire and wheel were reported stolen from a 2003 Saab 93, parked in the Leroy East parking lot on Monday, June 7, police said. The car's owner left his vehicle at 6:30 a.m.; when he returned at 7:30 p.m., he found the car's right side resting on the its front hub, Komm said. The right-front tire and wheel, valued at about $150, had both been taken, according to the police report.
On Thursday, June 10, an employee of the Tokeneke Beach Club, located at 4 Butlers Island Road, reported having an after-market air-intake filter stolen from his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse while he was at work, police said. He parked the car at the club at 7:45 a.m.; when he returned to the vehicle at 6:30 p.m., he found damage to the front-right corner panel, Komm said. He opened the hood and found the air filter, valued at $70, missing.
Komm said the incidents are most likely unrelated. Both are under investigation.
