The South Western Regional Planning Agency, the Town of Darien and the Connecticut Department of Transportation will host an open house for the Route 1 Corridor Study on Thursday, April 8, from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. at Darien Library.

Darien residents, business owners, commuters and other local stakeholders are encouraged to attend this open house any time between 2:15 and 4:15 p.m. to learn about the study and to share their insights and concerns about the Post Road between Nearwater Lane and Old Kings Highway North in Downtown Darien.

This open house will provide citizens an opportunity to talk one-on-one with members of the study team which is comprised of representatives from SWRPA, Town of Darien, Connecticut Department of Transportation and planners from Clough Harbour & Associates. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in hands-on exercises that will give the study team a better understanding of existing problem areas, transportation needs, and local priorities as they relate to walking, driving, biking, commuting and living in the study area.

Community participation is a key component of the Route 1 Corridor Study as it will help focus the study efforts and will help shape recommendations and strategies for the future of the Post Road. In addition to this open house, citizens will be invited to participate in three more community meetings to be conducted throughout the course of the study.
