Toys, gift cards collected for Darien families

The Darien Social Services Department is collecting toys and gift cards for its holiday program, which food and presents to eligible children and adults.

Holiday trees are set up in various locations throughout Darien and are decorated with gingerbread man ornaments, on which is a specific request. But contributors also can make a donation of their choice.

"There is nothing more gratifying than watching our families smile when they receive their gifts" said Olive Hauser, department director. "It's a special time of year and we are so grateful to everyone in Darien who comes out and helps us fulfill our mission."

Trees are located at in the main entranceway of Darien Town Hall, Darien Rowayton Bank and Halstead Real Estate. Donations can be dropped off at Darien Social Services, Room 109, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
