Transportation available through At Home in Darien

At Home in Darien offers transportation services for Darien seniors and people with disabilities to locations to town, New Canaan, Stamford and Norwalk.
Service hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Twenty-four hour notice is preferred for all reservations, and a voluntary contribution is appreciated.
Drivers will take interested riders to these and other activities in Darien.

At Home in Darien moved to the Mather Center, located adjacent to Town Hall at 2 Renshaw Road. The office is next to the main gym., which can be accessed by using the ramp entrance in the Town Hall's main circle, or through the new senior center entrance and then taking the stairs or elevator to the second floor. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Magical Movie Moments explored
Norwalk Community College Lifetime Learner instructor Byron Matthews will presents "Magical Movie Moments" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, Atria Darien, 50 Ledge Road. He will discuss the stars, directors, choreographers, moguls and behind-the-scenes artisans that made the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Blood pressure screenings scheduled
Screenings will take place:
at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Darien Senior Activities, Mather Center, 2 Renshaw Road
at noon Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Darien Library, 1441 Post Road
The screenings, conducted by a registered nurse from Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, are free and no appointment is needed.

Summer health and wellness series
Registered nurses Marie Dalton and Sally Scannell will discuss high blood pressure and diabetes and how to control risk factors associated with strokes at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Maplewood at Darien, 599 Boston Post Road. Blood pressure screenings will be done on site.
Lecture series begins
The first of a four-part series exploring the life of Emperor Franz Joseph and the many personal tragedies that he endured during his reign will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 6, at Atria Darien, 50 Ledge Road.
Military historian discusses Iron Curtain
Military historian Art Gottlieb will provide insight into living a life behind the Iron Curtain at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Atria Darien, 50 Ledge Road. Erected in 1961, the Berlin Wall was the ultimate symbolic divide between Western Europe and the Eastern Bloc nations.
