Tree Conservancy of Darien is conducting its second annual photo contest, "Celebration of Trees."
As part of its objective of raising awareness, Tree Conservancy hopes to inspire contestants to capture the beauty of the majestic, historic, attractive and unusual trees in Darien.
Residents or those who work in Darien are encouraged to take photos now, or to use recent photos of trees as their submissions. Photos, which must have been taken within the past two years, can be in black and white or color, and must be 8-by-10 inches.
Entries can be submitted at the Darien Nature Center from Feb. 24 to March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Registration fee is $15 for adults and $10 for students, with a limit of three entries per person.
Photos will be matted and displayed at the Darien Nature Center from March 7 to April 25 and will be judged by a panel of tree and photography experts. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
Last year's contest drew close to 100 entries from participants of all ages, with winners in 10 categories. An opening reception will take place March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
