Two gym workers charged with larceny, illegal use of credit cards

Katlyne Lauture, 26, and Monefa Hamilton, 23, both of 19 Wardwell St., Stamford, were arrested on Friday, Feb. 22, on charges of larceny in the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree and illegal use of credit cards.
Both subjects surrendered themselves when they were notified that arrest warrants had been issued.
Police said the charges stem from an investigation initiated on Dec. 11 at the Equinox Gym, 72 Heights Road, when management reported that two employees had used members' credit card information to purchase clothing at the Equinox Gyms in Darien and Greenwich.

According to the police report, Lauture is believed to have obtained members' credit card information, recorded the numbers and provided them to Hamilton, who then made the purchases. Between Nov. 27 and Dec. 6, seven fraudulent purchases were made totaling $1, 621.55, according to police. Police said when they were told of the allegations, they admitted to their illegal actions.
They were released on written promises to appear in court on Monday, March 4.
