Darien Police arrested two Norwalk men on Friday as a result of an ongoing undercover investigation headed by the department's detective division.
Everton Kinlock, 21, was charged with possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to sell marijuana.
Rafael Diaz, 23, was arrested on a warrant for three counts of the sale of marijuana and two counts of conspiracy to sell marijuana. Additionally, he was charged with possession of marijuana, sale of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and conspiracy to the sale of marijuana as a result of Friday's interaction.
"At 3 p.m. on Friday, as a result of an ongoing police investigation, we were able to obtain a warrant for Mr. Diaz, and we knew where he was going to be at a certain time and place," Komm said Monday afternoon.
Darien Police, as well members of the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team and Darien's K-9 unit, were positioned at AutoZone, 50 Cross St., Norwalk, for the arrest, Komm said. There, they found Diaz in a 2009 Toyota Camry, accompanied by Kinlock, Komm said.
The department seized a total of 39.1 grams of marijuana, all of which was packaged individually for sale, according to Komm. The drugs were found throughout the car, as well as on Diaz's person, Komm said. Police also recovered a scale used to weigh marijuana, according to the report.
The several-weeks-long investigation led police to Diaz; Kinlock just happened to be in the car, according to Komm. Komm would not say how Darien Police became involved in the investigation.
Kinlock posted a $10,000 bond. Diaz posted a $10,000 bond for his warrant charges, and an additional $10,000 bond for Friday's charges.
Both men will appear in court on Monday, Aug 2.
