Yuri Saldana, 27, of 21 Admiral St., West Haven, was arrested Dec. 1 on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without headlights.
At 2:05 a.m., a Darien officer saw a 2008 Nissan Maxima with its right front headlight out and stopped the car at exit 11 of I-95 north, police said. The officer saw Saldana fumble with his wallet while getting his driver's license, however, he handed the officer a blue credit card instead, according to the report.
When asked if he had had anything to drink, Saldana first told the officer he had one drink, police said, but when he was asked a second time, he said he had two drinks.
He was administered field sobriety tests, which he failed, and refused a Breathalyzer test, according to police.
He was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 10.
