John Christian, 26, 97 Keelers Ridge, Wilton, was arrested Oct. 12 on charges of driving while intoxicated and illegal storage of narcotics.
A Darien officer driving on the Post Road observed a man standing in an alleyway between two businesses on the Post Road, according to the report. When the officer pulled into a parking lot, he saw the man, identified as Christian, leave in a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox.
At a traffic stop on the Post Road near Sedgwick Road, the officer smelled alcohol on Christian and administered a field sobriety test, which Christian failed, said police.
Christian told police that he had come from a friend's house where he drank three beers, according to the report.
While the officer was investigating the vehicle, he found, in the center console, eight white, rectangular pills, which were determined to be alprezolam, a generic form of Xanax, police said. Christian told officer the pills were not his and that he had people in the car earlier, police said.
According to police, this was Christian's second DWI offense.
He posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.
