On Saturday, Nov. 5, and Saturday, Nov. 12, from noon to 3 p.m., volunteers will sell Wreaths Across America wreath sponsorships for $15 each at Palmer's Market on Heights Road.

These wreaths will be placed on veterans' graves at Darien's Spring Grove Cemetery on Dec. 10. Sales of the wreath sponsorships will continue from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 13, at Stop and Shop Grocery Store in the Goodwives Shopping Center. Darien Donut also is a wreath sponsorship location.

Commissioners from Darien's Monuments and Ceremonies Commission and Good Wife's River Chapter DAR will join some members of the local VFW Post No. 6933 and other local civic groups to help man the tables at these locations on subsequent Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The public is also invited to call 203-656-0003 to contact VFW commander Phil Kraft to sponsor a Darien wreath.

In 2011, Wreaths Across America will mark the 20th anniversary of the Worcester Wreath Company donating wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. A wreath for every one of the graves of more than 250,000 veterans will make the journey from Harrington, Maine, to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia this year. The ceremony will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Arlington.
