The YWCA Push-n-Pull Parade will celebrate its eighth year Wednesday, July 4.

The annual patriotic parade of children riding decorated bikes, scooters, wagons or any non-motorized vehicle steps off at 10:30 a.m. sharp from Goodwives Shopping Center, where Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children will entertain the waiting crowd starting at 10 a.m. The parade travels down the Post Road and ends in Tilley Pond Park, where parade participants and spectators can enjoy food vendors and live music from L'il Maestros.

Uncle Sam, local dignitaries and an authentic fife and drum corps will lead the parade, which draws 3,000 locals. Thirsty dogs can find refreshment at a watering station in Tilley Park provided by Pawprint Market.

This event is always free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $10 per family will be accepted at Tilley Park and will directly benefit the YWCA Darien/Norwalk and their community outreach programs of Parent Awareness, Job Search Support and new programs Girl 2 Girl and Mentoring for Girls. The Darien Sport Shop is the title sponsor of the event for the seventh straight year; silver sponsors are Darien Rowayton Bank and The Melting Pot Restaurant. The Darien News is a media sponsor.
