BROOKFIELD — Family members of a 55-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident Monday night are raising money for her funeral expenses.

According to a post on the GoFundMe website, relatives of Linda Richardson have raised nearly $2,800 to pay for funeral costs.

“My husband Stephen (the victim’s brother) is the last person to ask anyone for help, but is beside himself with grief and at a loss of what to do,” stated Richardon’s sister-in-law on the website. “Thank you all for your support, prayers and help.”

The post notes that Richardson was disabled and the family needs to raise at least $5,000 to pay for a small cremation and funeral service.

“I'm so sorry to hear of your tragic loss,” stated Dawn Tolomeo on the web site . I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers

Richardson was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Sandy and Homestead lanes on Monday night near her home in the Sandy Lane Village condiminum complex.

Police said the car left the scene without stopping.

“The vehicle likely sustained damage to the center and/or left side of the front fender, hood, and windshield,” Brookfield police said in a statement. “The vehicle left the scene of the crash at a high rate of speed, traveling eastbound on Sandy Lane to Old Grays Bridge Road.”

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or saw a car flee the area at a high rate of speed Monday to call Detective Sergeant Michael O’Brien at the Brookfield Police Department, 203-740-4121.
