STAMFORD -- A weekend dispute over snow removal led to a man's arrest after police said he struck a neighbor with a shovel.
Police were called to Sylvan Knoll Road at noontime Saturday on a report of two men fighting in the street, Sgt. Richard Barbagallo said.
When officers arrived, a man told them he was helping his mother shovel out her car when a neighbor came running out of his house yelling at him, apparently angry about where he was throwing the snow.
The man told police the neighbor, later identified as John Carr, 56, of 119 Sylvan Knoll Road, hit him on the head a few times with a plastic snow shovel he carried out of his house. Police talked to five or six people who witnessed the incident and corroborated the man's account of the attack, Barbagallo said.
When police talked to Carr, he admitted to getting angry at his neighbor, Barbagallo said.
Carr was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a written promise to appear in court.
