BRIDGEPORT -- A self-proclaimed political organizer was charged Friday with selling hunting rifles stolen from a Trumbull home.
Georgio Fuller, 42, was arrested after police said he sold an informant a 20 gauge shotgun and a Remington carbine rifle during an operation conducted by the city's gang task force.
Police said the guns, along with three other shotguns, stolen from a Trumbull home. The other guns have not been recovered.
Fuller, who told police he is a political organizer in the city, was charged with conspiracy to steal a firearm and conspiracy to criminally possess a firearm. He was being held in lieu of $750,000 bond. Court records show Fuller has an extensive criminal record.
After receiving a tip that Fuller and some associates were selling guns in the city, the task force set up an undercover operation, police said. Using an informant as a buyer interested in getting guns, the task force arranged a deal with Fuller to purchase the two guns for $700. Following the purchase, police said Fuller was arrested at a Cherry Hill Street apartment.
