STAMFORD — Police say a 19-year-old city man armed with a loaded gun was busted trying to break into cars on the West Side.
Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said officers spotted the man pull on a car door handle near the corner of Diaz and Piave streets about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. Lynch said the man realized the officers were watching him and he shoved his hands into his winter coat and turned away from them.
Officers Conor Canning and Steve Orgera stopped the man and discovered he was carrying a loaded gun, Lynch said. Lynch said the pistol was determined to have been stolen out of Columbia, a small upstate town in Tolland County.
Lenold Auguste was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, stealing a firearm and attempted burglary. He was held in lieu of a $20,000 court appearance bond.
