STAMFORD — A 15-year-old Bridgeport girl has been accused of stealing a pizza delivery driver’s car and leading police on a chase before crashing in Darien Wednesday night.

The victim told police his 1999 Honda Civic was taken while he was making a delivery on Henry Street in Stamford about 6:50 p.m., according to the report. Police said the man left the keys inside the car.

The driver refused to stop when an officer spotted the car on Interstate 95 northbound, police said.

Police said the officer chased the car until the driver took exit 11 in Darien, where he lost sight of the suspect.

Another officer saw an accident moments later in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts at 967 Post Road in Darien, and noticed one of the cars involved was the stolen Honda Civic, police said.

The teen driver, whose identity was not released because of her age, struck an unoccupied parked car, but she ran to the nearby train station platform after the crash, a witness told police.

After searching for the juvenile with the help of Darien, Metro-North and State Police, officers eventually located and arrested the girl.

Metro-North service near Darien was disrupted during the foot pursuit.
