On the Market / White clapboard New Canaan house has had a lot of work done

NEW CANAAN — Lake Wind Road is appropriately named because the street is only a block from Laurel Reservoir in the west part of town and the seven houses along that street probably enjoy refreshing breezes off that lake.
Among those seven residences is the 10-room Garrison colonial house at 65 Lake Wind Road. The 3,839-square-foot house was built in 1959 although much work was done to update it in the last seven years. The current owners replaced the windows in 2014 with Marvin Clad Ultimate windows, adding architecturally designed interior trim that replicates 18th century interior design. The solid oak hardwood floors were refinished, new multi-directional blinds were installed throughout, the water system was upgraded to include a Blue Frog carbon filter and water softener, lighting fixtures were replaced in several rooms, and in 2015 the exterior of the house was painted. This year upgrades were made to three upstairs bathrooms. That is just a partial list of the improvements that were made from 2010 to 2017.
The white clapboard house with black shutters is set back from the road and sits on a 2.11-acre largely level property in this quiet neighborhood. The horseshoe-shaped street is off Ponus Ridge Road. River Wind Road is a spur off Lake Wind. Because of its configuration this is not a through street and is therefore a safe walking neighborhood for residents and for children riding bicycles.
A flagstone path leads from the street to the front door, which opens into a center foyer that accesses the formal living and dining rooms, and the gourmet kitchen. The living room has a marble fireplace with dentil molding on the mantel and French doors into the sunroom at the back of the house. Flanking the fireplace are entryways into the family room, where there is a vaulted ceiling, floor-to-ceiling red brick fireplace with built-in bookshelves and lower cabinets on either side. The family room also has a door into the sunroom, which has a terra cotta tile floor and three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows with sliding doors on all three walls, all three doors leading to a large wrap-around wood deck with plenty of seating for outdoor entertainment.
The spacious eat-in kitchen was renovated by Kitchens by Deane and it has a center island, granite counters, white ceramic subway tile backsplash, high-end appliances - including a heat induction cooktop, and sliders to the deck. In the wing off the kitchen there are two bedrooms, a full bath, and the laundry room.
